Posts: 110 03/25/2009 15:31:02 Azure Knight of Angusland	We begin our lovely lovely tour by entering bumblefuck (err sorry)Southside Virginia-leaving the USA. The mountainesque/woodsy atmosphere is serene. After hiking for miles through woods and clearings, we come across the lake and ye olde merry clarksville...soon to be ye olde ghost town because they over tax ye and it's also known as the worst speed trappe in USA-they're getting better. After a lovely jaunt, ye can stop off at ye merry olde McDonald's for a bite to eat. Ye olde Lamplighter is another great place for a grog-no dancing girls though so here's a thing to take the pain away of no serving wenches -Ye need to be on the lookout for the guards though... There is a lovely stone bridge, which crosses over the water to the meager docking cove...ye can buy fishing bait and such and rent boats. The lakefest and harvest fest is the big local gatherings for sales of wares, music, and socializing...Look out for the cow... The southern hospitality is top notch-don't mistaken hospitality for them liking you. It could cause a duel giggles So that about does it for this tour...seriously...go grab a grog. The one and only....

Posts: 85 07/26/2009 01:03:01	G'day to all out there... Thort I'd give this a shot & take up Agnus invite here & introduce you all to my home town. I'm from Australia....Melbourne which is the capitol city of Victoria. Australia was discovered by Capt James Cook while on a Scientific expedition when his ship The Endevour ran aground on the Great barrier Reef ( full of Corals ) just off the coast of Queensland in 1776. Later it became a Penal Settlement where old England would send all her prisoners here. Victoria is situated along the Eastern coastal region. . Here it's a busy bustling city as we call it or the Big Smoke as the country people say. The main attractions are the Yarra River which is what Melbourne is built on & each year March 12th is Labour day we have Parades with floats & to end it all fireworks the procession is called Moomba (Aboriginal for gathering of people ) . They are indigenous to Australia & been here for over 40,000 years. Our city is about 1 Million people & they come from all walks of life. The 2nd Tuesday in Nov is Melbourne Cup a major horse racing day & a Public holiday for most..Nov 11th is Rememberence Day where we all remember the soldiers that gave thier lives for us all in WW1 & 2 & there is a mass gathering of ex soldiers at the Shrine or Rememberence. During the Summer months ( Late Oct to late Feb ) most cafes are packed with some sea side cafes having tables outside & on the outskirts is a surburb Carlton & a famous street called Lygon Street. There you can sit outdoors & enjoy the Italian lifestyle & have a coffee or a Ice cream etc. Other features in town are the major shopping malls like Myers a huge dept store that spans about 3 blocks & has multi level stores ranging from Mens & Ladies fashions to all electrical goods for the home. I live about 4 Kilometers from town in a sea side surburb called Altona. As well as town we have smaller shopping malls & here we have K-mart & Target like most & yes what would Melbourne be without Maccas..(Mac Donalds) & KFC....The nite scene is not bad plenty of nite life & there Crown Casino a 24 hr place. Weatherwise : Summer is late Oct to late Feb...Winter is April to late July.... Spring is about late Sept till Oct. Winter it does'nt snow but it gets cold & windy at times Summer tends to be hot temps in the mid to hi 30's Celsious. Native animals are Kangaroos & Koalas & Platapuss..... Well I guess I've bored you all here to tears huh?... And as we say ...g'day mate!!!!! 'ave a good one.!.... catch ya tomarra mate Say G'day to da misses We'll fire up the 'ol barby next Satdee & throw a shrimp on it & sink a few timmies!!!! But I love the Australian sense of humour (which I'm sure most Australians don't even think of as such), and I have a great deal of respect for a certain Australian-born clarinettist. If the opportunity to visit such an amazing place should ever arise I would certainly be interested, but I'm not sure if I could stand the climate; I'm much more a rain-and-snow type myself, and I burn terribly easily. Hi Kit.. Sorry about this late reply here but was locked out from Yuku which is the only way I can access this Forum. Nonetheless thanks to Agnus I was able to gain access again. Using this Hotels' PC is what I think the problem is but I'm not certain.However as soon as I'm back home for sure I'll get me a PC or a Lap Top at least mainley keep in touch with my lady ...About you getting used to this weather? It's ok many overseas people share your problems as a matter of fact my sister even tho she's been here all her life still gets burned but you have to be in the Sun 5 - 10 minutes each day & gradually increase it slowly. I have a tanned body already from just walking in the Sunshine... Here if you want to escape the sunny sun you can always head up towards the Snowy Mountains cause each June is the Snow skiing season & like many Victorians they all head up North........brrrr..The only snow I've seen is what lies in my freezer & that's it. No worries Kit anytime here it's been warm as & went for a short walk till I felt some spitting thinking it was a sea gull..LOL..Headed back to my Hotel room thort it was going to come down but it did'nt. I do'nt miss home at all I must say love it here. But I have to return as my Visa will expire besides I have tie up some loose ends.
