Hey... my very own thread that I didn't see earlier... well, pain meds will do that.

The rehab therapy wasn't so bad. The nurses actually kept me pretty well drugged- I had/have a scheduled pain med for every 12 hours (long-lasting) and one for every four hours (which is, now that I'm home, every six hours). I had awesome therapists- as in rehab, not that I need psychiatric care. My occupational therapist (upper body, daily tasks kind of thing) was hilarious. The physical therapist was just as funny, but in a different way. I had two people in England send me Cadbury (of various kinds). So, I had the kids bring it in and I shared a few blocks with the PT/OT staff.

One of the OT gals bought a bench from us last summer. She kept looking at me and couldn't place me. Then the disabled guy showed up one day to have me sign our tax refund check and she realized who I was. Then she brought up his photobucket on the office computer and they all got to see the amazing woodwork he does, all one-handed. And of course, they work with stroke survivors, so he's like this huge thing to the therapists.

My mom and I are on the same pain meds- from the Oxycontin family. We have contests to see who will have the unexpected nap first (she usually wins). At the moment, I can only spend about 20 to 30 minutes in the computer chair before the pain gets to me. I can't wait to get all the way home though.

My dad is a smartass and is taking far too much delight in bringing me food or drink (I can't walk at all without my walker) and then he holds it juuuust out of my reach and teases me. He's actually really cool about it and all- even dotes on my mom, which is a side I've never really seen before. I mean, they've always been good to each other, but to see him do for her the things that she did for him when he was recovering from his heart surgeries, its just not something I'm used to.

Of all the kids, I think Jase missed having me around the most. He would always text me or call me for no reason. Last Friday night, we were both watching "The Soup" on E! and texting back and forth. Normally, we'd watch it together at home. In the two weeks I was in the hospital, Kat got her driver's license AND bought a car. So, she's almost a fully-growed up adult! She got a 1995 Buick Le Sabre. It was owned by a single owner- a friend of my dad's. He can't drive anymore (he's nearly 87) and it was just literally, gathering dust in his garage. He could have easily gotten $3000 for it, but since it was my dad... my kid... he let her have it for $1800. With registration and insurance, the whole thing only cost her around $2200. Not bad for a first car. I told her this wasn't a typical car-buying experience. Grandpa wouldn't always have a friend who needed to sell a car!

Anywhoo, the pain drugs are getting to me, the chair is getting uncomfortable, and I need a snack. See ya later.
